How Building Authority and Influence Can Help Scale Your Business as a Coach

January 19, 20233 min read

Listen up, coaches and consultants, because I've got a little lesson for you today. It's about the difference between building authority and influence as a business coach, and why you need to focus on both if you want to scale your business.

Now, I know you're probably thinking, "Oh great, another boring article about the same old thing." But hear me out, because this is important stuff.

Let's start with authority. Authority is all about being seen as an expert in your field. It's about having the credentials, the knowledge, and the experience to back up what you're selling. It's like being the head honcho, the big cheese, the top dog.

But here's the thing, just having authority isn't enough. Sure, it's great to be seen as an expert, but it's not going to get you very far if you don't have any influence. Influence is all about being able to persuade and inspire others to take action. It's about being able to connect with your audience on a deeper level and get them to believe in what you're selling.

So, what's the difference between the two? Authority is all about what you know, and influence is all about what you can do with what you know.

Now, I know you're thinking, "But Magdalena, I already have authority in my field. Why do I need influence too?" Well, let me tell you, if you want to scale your business, you need both.

Think about it, with authority alone, you might be able to attract a few clients here and there, but with influence, you'll be able to attract a whole lot more. And not only that, but you'll be able to keep them coming back for more.

Think about it like this, authority is like having a fancy degree from a prestigious university. It looks great on paper, but if you can't inspire others to take action, it's not going to do you much good. On the other hand, influence is like having a charismatic personality. It might not look great on paper, but it's going to get you a lot further in life.

So, how do you build both authority and influence as a business coach? Well, it's not rocket science, but it does take some effort.

First, focus on building your authority. Get the credentials, the knowledge, and the experience you need to be seen as an expert in your field. But don't stop there.

Next, work on building your influence. Connect with your audience on a deeper level, and create content that's not only informative but also inspiring. Show them how you can help them achieve their goals and make their dreams a reality.

And finally, don't be afraid to put yourself out there. Speak at events, write articles, and create videos. The more you can get your message out there, the more authority and influence you'll build.

So, there you have it, coaches and consultants, the difference between building authority and influence, and why you need both if you want to scale your business. Now, go out there and make it happen.

In conclusion, authority and influence are two different things but both are essential for scaling your business as a coach. Authority is all about being seen as an expert in your field, while influence is all about being able to persuade and inspire others to take action. By focusing on building both, you'll be able to attract more clients and keep them coming back for more. Building authority is all about credentials, knowledge, and experience, while building influence is all about connecting with your audience, creating inspiring content and putting yourself out there.
